A blood clot that forms inside a vein or artery and blocks the flow of blood.
DVT
Deep vein thrombosisA clot in a deep vein, usually in the calf or thigh.
PE
Pulmonary embolismPart of a clot breaks off and blocks an artery in the lungs. A medical emergency.

Arterial thrombosisA clot in an artery, the cause of most heart attacks and strokes.
